Freelance Change Order Generator
Turn extra client requests into a clear scope and price proposal. Record original deliverables and included revisions, calculate additional work, and print a change order for review.
Original agreement
Replace this fictional example with the scope and fee you agreed with your client.
Proposed changes
List work outside the original agreement. Hours × rate sets each additional fee; use 1 hour and your fixed fee for a flat-price change. Extra hours are effort, not a promised delivery date.
Inputs stay in page memory and clear on refresh. No client data is sent to our server or included in analytics. Save a PDF using your browser to retain a copy.
Review the revised scope
PROPOSED REVISED PROJECT FEE
$2,300.00
$2,000.00 original fee + $300.00 in proposed changes. Before any additional taxes or fees.
Included revisions: 2 rounds under the original agreement. Revision rounds do not automatically change pricing; list any chargeable extra work above.
Status: proposed, not approved. This tool does not send requests, collect signatures, or record client approval. Confirm scope, fees, and any schedule changes with your client separately.

Change #1

4 hours × $75.00/hour = $300.00
Additional effort: 4 hours · Additional fee: $300.00
Revised project fee: $2,300.00
Amounts exclude additional taxes and fees. Schedule impact, payment terms, and authorization must be confirmed separately. Original deliverables and included revisions remain as described above unless explicitly changed. This document is a proposal, not evidence of client acceptance.
How to calculate the cost of scope creep
Price each additional request
Additional fee = extra hours × hourly rate, rounded to cents for each change. Revised project fee = original fee + the sum of additional fees. For a fixed-price change, enter 1 hour and the fixed fee as the rate.
Example: a $2,000 project plus 4 extra hours at $75/hour becomes $2,300, a 15% increase. The added 4 hours describe effort; they do not set a delivery date.
Separate revisions from new deliverables
Record the revision rounds included in your agreement. A new page or feature may be a scope change, while an edit may fall within an included revision. This tool does not decide what your agreement covers. Only add work you intend to propose as extra.
Review before work begins
Use the printout to discuss the added deliverables, price, and schedule with your client. The document is marked as proposed. Client approval, payment terms, signatures, and delivery dates must be handled separately.
Know the limits
This is a local calculator and document generator, not a shared approval system or legal contract service. It does not track payments, tax, billable time, discounts, credits, or completed work. Inputs clear on refresh; save a PDF if you need a copy.
Freelance scope and change-order questions
What should a freelance change order include?
Identify the project, original scope and revision allowance, the requested additional work, its price, and the revised project total. Confirm any schedule and payment changes separately before treating the proposal as approved.
Can I use this for design or development projects?
Yes. It supports fixed-price freelance work such as website design, development, writing, and creative projects where you can describe a change and estimate an additional fee.
Can I save a change order as a PDF?
Complete the project and change descriptions, then select Print change order / Save PDF. Choose your browser’s Save as PDF destination. There is no account or cloud storage.
Does this track client approval?
No. Every generated document is a proposal awaiting review. The tool does not send an approval link, collect signatures, or certify acceptance.
Does a zero hourly rate work?
Yes. A change can add effort at no extra charge. If the original project fee is zero, the percentage increase is shown as N/A because it has no meaningful denominator.
